IT Officer
Locality: National Service
Salary: £24,090 - £28,334
Contract: Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Base: Edinburgh, Glasgow or Falkirk (primarily remote working)
About us:
Carr Gomm is one of Scotland’s leading social care and community development charities; we strive to support people to achieve their individual hopes and dreams every day. We know our work is challenging and very rewarding, and we require people with a flexible and inspirational approach who can find innovative solutions with people, not for them.
What we are looking for…
Carr Gomm are currently seeking candidates for the position of IT Officer. In contrast to your average “technical support” role, this position offers an ambitious candidate the opportunity to get hands-on experience contributing to all manner of IT related operations across the organisation, including:
- Assisting with ongoing projects centred on improving Carr Gomm’s IT
- Developing and updating systems documentation
- Creating and testing creative solutions to various IT related problems
- Maintaining & auditing centrally held records relating to IT systems
- Providing technical support to desktop users as required
- Infrastructural maintenance e.g., regular system checks, management of critical updates, backup troubleshooting & configuration etc.
As this will be primarily a remote role, the ability and willingness to work remotely are essential. The “onsite” portion of the role can be based at the candidate’s choice of either Edinburgh, Falkirk or Glasgow – at our offices in those locations. Carr Gomm also has smaller sites all over Scotland that sometimes need a bit off onsite IT assistance so a willingness and ability to occasionally travel are also essential.
Other essential requirements include:
- High level of technical proficiency working with and administering Windows 10
- Experience of working with common software, e.g. browser configuration, MS Office applications etc.
- Well-developed understanding of the technicalities involved in building and maintaining computer networks
This role would suit someone with broad technical interests, a talent for problem solving and a passion for developing their technology skills. Please see the role profile below for more information on what is required.
Additional Benefits:
- 35 days’ holiday per year
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick leave
- A Defined Contribution pension scheme, with incremental employer contributions
- Membership to Lifeworks; employee well-being and perks platform
- Membership of a credit union
- Cycle to work scheme
