The Role

You will be joining a small, dedicated team of Support Practitioner providing a twenty-four-hour housing support service to three ladies in Pollokshaws. The people we support have learning disabilities and other complex health and support needs; one of the ladies requires a wheelchair to get around. The service has a charming sensory garden and is situated in a lovely area on the Southside of Glasgow and close to several beautiful green spaces, which the people we support enjoy visiting.

With a focus on maintaining and promoting independence, you will work in a person-centred way to provide support in all aspects of daily living, including personal care, cooking and helping them to take care of their home. You’ll provide emotional support and companionship, and enable them to pursue their hobbies and interests, which include reading and music, anime, karaoke, going to the gym and swimming. The people we support are very sociable and enjoy eating out and going shopping.

You don't need experience to start your career with us; we recruit on values and we'll give you all the training you'll need if you're successful. We'll even put you through your SVQ qualification too!

To be a great Support Practitioner, you will be:

  • a naturally empathetic person with a warm, friendly personality
  • a good listener with great communication skills
  • able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people
  • a problem-solver and able to think on your feet and use your initiative
  • upbeat, energetic with a positive, can-do attitude
  • reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the people we support

Shift Patterns

Our team provides support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, following a rolling rota. If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to work a combination of longer and shorter day shifts and sleepovers; for example, 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, 8.00 am to 8.30 pm and 8.00 am to 8.00 am sleepover. You’ll be expected to work weekends and public holidays as part of your rota.

Sleepover hours are not included in your contracted hours and you’ll receive an additional sleepover payment of £85.50 per night.
