Caring for older people in the Borders is extremely important to Eildon.

Are you committed to delivering excellent service provision for older people, and can you support our tenants to stay connected to their local community and help them to find creative solutions to the challenges they may face?

Our Cooks will play an important role in the team at Wilkie Gardens in Galashiels, Eildon’s new and exciting Extra Care Housing (ECH) service for older people which is due to be completed in November 2021 and operational from January 2022. The shift patterns vary over 7 days covering the preparation and provision of two meals per day and can be discussed during the interview process, this vacancy we envisage will cover 3 days from 7 per week.

You will be responsible for the preparing and production of a varied and nutritious meal plan for tenants and customers. Along with this you will assist with the supply chain process within budgetary constraints whilst adhering to Eildon’s Food Safety Management system. You should be qualified to SVQ level 2 in food preparation or similar and ideally hold REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene certification.

You will assume line management responsibilities for Scheme Assistants within the team and ensure the provision of excellent customer service. You will need to have an interest in people along with a positive can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and the ability to multitask. Most importantly you should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Eildon’s vision and values.
