The Service
The service will work in partnership with the Corner to provide intensive support to young people aged 16 to 21 years living in Dundee who are engaged in, or affected by, substance use. The service will support to improve their mental health, engage with specialist support services, maintain their tenancies, support with relationships and engage with training, education and employment. The service provides one to one and group education interventions.
The Role
As a Project Worker you will:
- Work in partnership with The Corner to plan, develop and deliver interventions to ensure the best support is given to young people at the right time
- Provide support to young people whose lives are affected by their own, or a family member’s, substance use; as well as where their mental health has been impacted by their substance use and is impacting negatively on themselves and others
- Listen to young people and seek to understand their lives on their terms, and supporting young people to find their own solutions and build their own resilience and capacity to live successfully
- Provide one-to-one support, education sessions and group work sessions in partnership with The Corner to vulnerable young people who are experiencing any issues with their substance use and transitioning between young peoples are adult services.
You Will
- Have experience of supporting young people one a one-to-one basis and in a group work based setting
- Have good communication skills both written and verbal
- Have experience of community based work and the ability to deliver awareness-raising and educational sessions to a range of stakeholders
- Be self-motivated and work well under pressure
- Be educated to Level 7 of the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework, SVQ3 or any equivalent qualification or have the ability and willingness to undertake study to achieve this
- Hold a valid UK drivers licence and have a willingness to travel for work as required.
