Campus Service – Springburn, Glasgow - Project Worker

The Mungo Foundation is a well-established charitable organisation, with over 40 years of experience supporting vulnerable individuals across Scotland. We employ over 700 staff, supporting approximately 1500 people a year, across a diverse array of services. Our services are tailored to the needs of each individual we work with and together we work hard to improve their quality of life.

Our Campus Project is currently recruiting for someone to join our staff team, who is motivated to support young people who have fled their own countries for fear of persecution and are seeking safety in the UK.

Typically, residents will have experienced life traumas including bereavement, separation, torture and hazardous journeys to their destinations as well as potentially being victims of trafficking/people smuggling and continued exploitation.

An objective of the project is that the people we support will leave the service with, regardless of what their futures hold, a lasting impression of feeling safe, considered and cared for. We aim to improve service user’s confidence and support them to develop skills that will benefit them now and in their futures as well as enabling them to feel part of our local community.

To achieve these objectives, we are looking to add someone to our experienced staff team, who has an understanding of and commitment to the role of a worker in social care, who has a genuine interest in our resident’s wellbeing, who wants an opportunity to develop their own knowledge of different cultures and customs, who possesses a willingness to engage and learn from their colleagues and the project residents and who can demonstrate a sense of care and compassion for young asylum seekers and refugees.

The project is a newly built block of modern flats that provide an excellent living, working and social environment for both project residents and staff. We are located in the Springburn area of North Glasgow and are well served by a variety of public transport links.

If you are interested and feel that you have the qualities and motivation that could make you an asset to the project, if you are willing to broaden your personal knowledge and experience, if you are non-judgemental and caring and are prepared to work hard in the best interests of this unique and vulnerable group of young people, who are responsive, engaging and appreciative, then please complete a full application form which is available on our website.

Qualifications or experience are not essential. We offer excellent support, training and a salary of £10.22 per hour (pay award pending).

If successful and unqualified, you must be willing to work towards a suitable qualification for a post at this level, in line with the SSSC Regulatory Requirements.

The Scottish Government have introduced a temporary fee waiver, which means that any candidate conditionally offered a post, the Government will pay for the cost of your PVG membership (to join or update the scheme) or if you are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) up until 25th June 2022.

If you are looking for a new and rewarding challenge, this may be the ideal opportunity for you.

We value our staff very highly. Alongside competitive terms and conditions we also offer membership of an employee benefits scheme, credit union and workplace pension plus numerous training and development opportunities, including SVQ registration level qualifications.

To apply please complete an online application form which can be found on our website under Join our Team, then Work with Us, then under the relevant vacancy click on the Apply button.

Appointments are made subject to satisfactory membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, SSSC registration and appropriate safer recruitment checks.
