Job description

As we continue to expand and invest in the wellbeing of residents we have an exciting opportunity within our team for an innovative and forward thinking Activities & Wellbeing Coordinator.

As the activities & wellbeing coordinator, you are responsible for planning, organising and facilitating a wide range of activities across QME Care to enrich the lives of our residents.

You will develop and maintain a volunteer team to help aid the ongoing activities programme and support of all QME Care activities.

3. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Organise an exciting weekly programme of activities for residents providing a wide range of high-quality activities for all residents needs. For example, cognitive stimulation, animal therapy, reminiscence therapy, gentle exercise, sensory stimulation, and music therapy.

· Support the care team to understand and undertake activities in the coordinator’s absence.

· Liaising with external agencies including sourcing, budgeting, and booking external entertainment.

· Ensure that activities provide residents with opportunity for cognitive stimulation, gentle exercise and social opportunities to increase the wellbeing of all residents.

· Actively involve residents, families and care staff in planning activities.

4. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Experience in the field of Older Adults, Mental Health and/or Dementia is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexibly, adapting to the needs and issues of residents.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents though non-verbal methods.
  • Able to liaise and work with volunteers, external suppliers, and organisations to enhance our range of activities.
  • Good ICT skills
  • Must possess an inquisitive and creative mind.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening skills; able to communicate with a diverse range of people and organisations
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise workload.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated.

5. SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT 

  • Use of Microsoft software, including using Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher for creating activity resources and keeping records.
  • Use of internet for educational purposes and to remain up to date with any changes.
  • Use of Sharepoint, sharing files and ensuring that any changes to documents are done in a timely manner to minimise disruption. ·
  • Use of Telephone and digital communication such as Teams and Zoom.

Closing date for all applications Friday 20th May at 12noon. Interviews for this role will take place on Wednesday 25th May at QME Care.

Hours: 25 hours per week worked on a rolling rota basis
