Personal Assistant (Support Worker)

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

Would you like to make a difference to a sociable young lady’s life, who lives in her own home with support from staff in Craigmillar, Edinburgh.

We are looking for females* on a permanent Full Time and Part Time basis.

Experience of working with Autism, Learning Disability, and Epilepsy is preferable.

*Exemption under Equality Act 2010

About this Opportunity

This lady loves the theatre and music, recently she combined the 2 and performed on the stage in the Kings Theatre live over zoom and she was amazing. She picked 3 songs, which she practiced every day on the build up to the event.

She loves all things Disney and has an extensive collection of Disney DVD’s. She has also been on holiday to Disneyland and met most of the characters.

She is looking to become more active in her community, which was significantly impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic. She is keen to get back into swimming, and getting her nails and hair done.

Staff will need to help her to connect with her community especially in her neighbourhood as well as creatively looking at other ventures and activities that may be of interest.

Staff need to be able to remain calm, when situations get demanding, follow Protocols and Behavioural Support Plans to help reduce anxieties, which will help her to feel safe and confident

Extensive training will be given, including shadow shifts, she currently has 2 staff supporting her at all times.
