Job Purpose
Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.
Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Job Details
We are currently looking for a female* Personal Assistant to become part of the team who support a young woman in her fifties. This woman lives in West Edinburgh. Full time or part time posts available.
Current support times are:
- 10 am – 10 pm (Mon / Tue / wed / Fri / Sun)
- 09:30am – 10pm Thurs / Sat
A driving licence is essential for this post.
The salary starts at £10.84 per hour (£22,084 FTE) and rises to £11.40 per hour (£23,123 FTE). Thistle also offer a £500 welcome payment for contracted employees.

“I am a young woman who is looking for friendship groups and would like my support to assist me with this. I am very outgoing and enjoy meeting all types of folks.
I have my own car and when going outside the house I use my manual wheelchair, however, I can transfer into other seats. I sit up front in my own car.
I can walk but need assistance as my balance is not the best. I require assistance in the shower and to help me make meals. There are some food types that are not safe for me to eat. I am registered blind. I love to paint, Art is my main hobby.
I use a wheelchair most times within my flat.
I am looking for someone who is willing to have a bit of banter & fun, who will go on trips and not be reluctant to sing in the car.
Previous experience is not necessary. Your personal values and your life experiences that you can bring to the role are more important. Thistle provides outstanding training and support that is ongoing throughout your career with us. Sleepovers are desirable but not essential for this post.
