Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We are currently seeking a Personal Assistant to join a team that supports a young man who has a physical disability. He lives at home in Inverleith, Edinburgh. Sleepovers will be required as part of the service. This position is for 16 hours per week.

He requires support with:-

  • keeping fit (he especially enjoys dancing and trampolining)
  • socialising with friends and family
  • daily tasks such as bathing, dressing and meal preparation
  • his team accompany him to concerts, shows, and support him to maintain his interests in art, media and film
  • his love of travel, which may mean being away from home for multiple days

This makes the job varied and interesting.

Support is provided 7 days a week. The shifts run from 9am until 10pm, followed by a sleepover, and then from 7am to 9am the following morning.

The successful candidates should have the capacity to pick up extra shifts for cover, training etc.

About you…………

  • A driving licence would be preferable as the young man has his own car
  • You will be positive and flexible
  • You will enjoy supporting people to live a full life
  • You must have, or be willing to work towards a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
