Personal Assistant (Support Worker)

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We have both full time and part time contracts available for male or female personal assistants to join the team of PAs who support J. This position is based in Leith, Edinburgh.

“I’m looking for a male or female Personal Assistant, who will support me to live as independently as possible. They should be up for a laugh, confident and be a quick learner.

I require 1:1 support for all aspects of personal care. I use a powered wheelchair and have 24-hour ventilation. I require assistance with

I enjoy seeking out new experiences, learning new things, seeing new places. l regularly attend gigs, theatre, and cinema. I also enjoy listening to folk, rock and blues music and watching horror films/series. I often find recipes to cook with PAs.”

Cover is provided from 7am to 10pm and the hours will be made up of 2 or 3 shifts per week on a rota basis which is decided by and agreed upon with the team.

Essential requirements for this post:-

• Flexible availability – mornings, afternoons, evenings (including weekends)
• Occasional sleepovers.
• Basic cooking skills

Desirable requirements for this post:-

• Experience of providing personal care (showering, toileting, dressing)
• Experience of moving and assisting and use of a hoist
• Non smoker
• Comfortable with technology
• A confident driver with a valid driving licence
