Personal Assistant (Support Worker)

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We are looking for two new Personal Assistants to join an existing team supporting a gentleman living in Duddingston, Edinburgh. These positions are for up to 30 hours per week.

About this opportunity

• The gentleman is a very family orientated man – he is the centre of the family.
• His family prepare the meals for him.
• He likes to read, watch documentaries and spend time in the garden.
• He doesn’t attend any groups.
• He has no pets and doesn’t smoke.
• He doesn’t go out in a car at the moment due to his health but this may change in the future.
• The gentleman and his family are very particular about personal hygiene and infection control due to Covid.
• The family enjoy having family time with him during the day and at mealtimes.

The gentleman is on a ventilator 24 hours a day, and he also requires oxygen through a nebuliser twice a day. He is also Peg Fed through the night.

Home ventilation experience would be preferred but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Shift patterns are as follows, and done on a rota basis:

• Monday to Sunday: 8am - 3pm
• Monday to Sunday: 3pm - 10pm
