The best thing about working for Aberlour is making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

About Red Squirrel

Our Red Squirrel house near Dundee opened in April 2021. A group of care experienced young people contributed to its design. This gave us real insight into what would create a comfortable homely environment for the children and young people who live with us.

What we are looking for....

If you are passionate about children being able to be all they can be in the face of challenging circumstances, we want to hear from you. In caring for the children, could you have fun with them, be silly, help them to learn and grow and share memories and experiences with them? Could you help to provide a loving, nurturing family home for children who have suffered early life trauma? Can you help Aberlour Be Brave in meeting and exceeding the needs of the children who live with us?

At Aberlour we want to do more than plaster over the cracks or achieve a ‘quick fix’. We aim to create genuine transformational change for the children and young people that will make a meaningful difference to their lives in the medium to long term. The work is challenging and takes time before we see results but is also immensely rewarding.

You must be an effective contributor to our vision with unwavering commitment to enable you to deal positively with the challenges and opportunities that distressed children can bring to their care experience. Importantly, we want to hear from candidates who believe that children can be understood and responded to without needing to use physical restraint, in line with our innovative approach to becoming more developmentally informed as to how best to support children when their early life experiences cause them distress.

Opportunities for both full-time and part-time roles are available and team members work a full residential shift rota including early, late, nights, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.

At Aberlour we want to make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential. If you share the same vision, we want you to join our team. Aberlour’s values are critical and drive everything we do. We will be looking for someone who can demonstrate how Aberlour’s values of Respect, Innovation, Integrity and Challenge will be visible in their practice. You must be comfortable working in an environment where Aberlour’s values are lived in practice. Our vision is that our children’s houses provide a loving home where everyone laughs, learns, grows into their future and is treasured always.
