Cults Playgroup would like to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and caring person as Early Years Practitioner. Cults Playgroup is a small, but long-established Early Learning and Childcare setting, which has a strong foundation in the local community and centres around a nurturing ethos with children and families.

The Early Years Practitioner will work as part of a small team, assisting the Senior Early Years Practitioner and other team members in the planning and delivery of high quality early learning and childcare provision. The successful candidate will be committed to continuous professional development to ensure their practice meets the individual needs of all children and families, ensuring their wellbeing and improving outcomes for all service users. There would be scope for you to undertake further study and progress in the team.

Minimum Qualifications/Certificates/Memberships required:

  • SVQ Level 3 Social Services – children and young people at SCQF Level 6 (or willing to work towards) or any other qualification recognised as a practitioner qualification with the SSSC.
  • Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC.
  • PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.

As a minimum, demonstrate skills and experiences in:

  • An enthusiasm for working with children 2-5 in an Early Learning and Childcare setting.
  • Building positive relationships with children, families and other professional colleagues.
  • Experience of communicating effectively, including non-verbal, verbal and written forms of communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between high quality services and the promotion of children’s learning and development.
  • Administrative and IT skills.

Demonstrate understanding of:

  • Child development pre-birth to 8

  • Realising the Ambition: Being Me
  • Curriculum for Excellence
  • Health and Social Care Standards
  • Other key national and local ELC guidance and legislation
