EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
Early Years Scotland Family Visitor Centre at HMP Low Moss, East Dunbartonshire
We are looking for a highly motivated and supportive Early Years Practitioner for the Early Years Scotland Family Visitor Centre at HMP Low Moss. This Early Years Practitioner post will have a focus on two parts of the work.
Firstly, you will be working with parents and children affected by parental imprisonment, delivering the EYS Fathers’ Programme to imprisoned parents and supporting children on visits. The second part of this role is working in a team of three professionals, involved in the co-ordinating and running of the EYS Family Visitor Centre at the prison which aims to achieve positive outcomes for prisoners’ children and families and for prisoners themselves by fulfilling three core functions:
· improving the experience of visiting a family member or loved one in prison
· allowing families to access independent and impartial advice, information and support which meets their needs
· championing families’ needs towards the prison system
The Early Years Scotland team will provide a range of services, advice, assistance, experiences and information as required to suit the needs of the children and families in their visits and in their daily lives.
The Early Years Practitioner will engage positively with children and families to promote the understanding of the importance of play and learning in young children’s development. They will also assist in offering one to one support and in signposting to other sources of information and advice.
Post Details (all pay and allowances are pro-rata and subject to continuing funding)
· 28 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum (to include weekends/evenings) as follows:
Monday 9am – 5pm
Tuesday 9am - 5pm
Thursday 12.30pm – 7.30pm
Friday 12.30pm – 7.30pm
(These hours are subject to change depending on changes to prison visits in the future).
· £17,033 pro-rata per annum (£21,292 FTE); £11.70 per hour (Point 19 on scale 19-22)
· Fixed term to 31 March 2023 (subject to continuing funding)
· 20 days Annual Leave in the first year rising to 30 days thereafter, pro-rata
· 12 public holidays per annum

Applicants must have relevant professional qualification (e.g., HNC Early Education & Childcare, SVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development or other) with relevant experience for the role. PVG Scheme membership will also be required.
