We are looking for a Childcare Practitioner to join our team in a brand new early learning and childcare facility in Aberdeen.

We are looking for applicants who have a minimum of a SVQ 3 or equivalent.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Support, plan and develop learning activities
  • Create a welcoming and suitable environment for children and their parents/carers which support early learning and development.
  • To plan responsive and adult led planning to support the children’s needs and development.
  • Undertake and be involved in the self-evaluation of the setting, with knowledge of HGIOELC and The Health and Social Care Standards.
  • Be prepared to undertake domestic duties jobs, for example the preparation of snack with the children, cleaning of equipment etc.
  • The reporting of any accidents or incidents to the management team.
  • To have due respect for the safeguarding of children and following FCSS Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure the high quality of the environment to meet the needs of each individual child.
  • To uphold the services high standard of delivery.
  • Keep the children’s folios/journals up to date, including observations and personnel care plans.
  • To have a good knowledge of child development from birth to 16 years.
  • To further your qualifications as ongoing Continual Professional Development.
  • To undertake training and engage completely with all aspects of Azilo/preferred training provider.

Personal Specifications:

Essential:

  • A good standard of education and hold a relevant professional qualification required for a practitioner role.
  • Knowledge of the relevant legal documentation relevant to the role.
  • Previous experience of implementation of the Curriculum for Excellence, Pre-Birth to Three, GIRFEC and monitoring against SHANARI outcomes.
  • Member of PVG scheme for children, SSSC Registered as a practitioner.
  • Experience of evaluation to defined outcomes.
  • Effective communicator, verbal and written, to a wide range of people including children, parents, team, regulatory bodies, senior officials and members of the local community, through conversation, reports, and written information.

Desirable:

  • Experience of developing new services and implementation of systems for continual improvement.
  • Experience of liaison with other agencies and interagency work.

  • Period of appointment: The appointment is permanent
  • Confirmation of appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 3-month probationary period and receipt of PVG Scheme membership/update information.
  • Salary: £17,290
  • Hours of work: 35 per week
  • Holidays: 37 paid days pro rata including Public Holidays
  • Pension: The FCSS Pension scheme is a Flexible Retirement Plan, with The Pensions Trust. On appointment you will be automatically enrolled but following a qualifying period you may increase your contributions. Where an employee pays a minimum contribution of 3% of salary, FCSS will make a 7% contribution.
  • Training and Support and Supervision: You will receive induction training and frequent support in the first three months. Thereafter you will receive monthly individual support and supervision and annual appraisals. Regular team meetings are held, and all members have access to internal and external training.
