Letham Playgroup (SCIO) Angus currently has an exciting opportunity for a Playgroup Deputy Manager to join our playgroup. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, caring, and nurturing. We are interested in someone who enjoys working with children in a team environment and who is enthusiastic about providing stimulating environments and rich learning experiences for our children. The playgroup is open for children ages 2 to 5yrs.

Letham Playgroup (SCIO) is a registered charity and run by a Committee of Trustee’s, Playgroup Manager and team of practitioners who are dedicated to providing high quality early education and care.

Letham Playgroup has been established for 50 years in the village and has an exciting new build in progress. We work in partnership with the Local Authority, are members of Early Years Scotland, registered with the Care Inspectorate and OSCR the Scottish Charity Regulator.

Playgroup Deputy Manager needs to have a suitable SVQ 3 at SCQF level 7, or HNC in Childhood Practice qualification with the desire to work towards Playgroup Manager in the future, have excellent knowledge of early year’s national guidance and be committed to undertake continuing professional development courses and qualifications as required through registration with SSSC.

The Deputy will assist the Manager in the organising of the playgroup and is accountable to the Manager for all duties. This role will actively participate in the implementation of the vision for the development of the service consistently working towards the aims of the group to ensure a high quality service for every child and family.

The Deputy will ensure good team working practice, develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, relevant agencies and manage associated documentation.

This post is a term time post where the hours and days will be negotiable (Minimum commitment of 20 hours/week) and will be discussed with Manager/Committee during the interview process, salary will be competitive with similar positions in the area and dependant on current qualifications.

Candidates will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Practitioner in the Day Care of Children and undergo PVG disclosure and reference checks prior to starting in the role.
