Rothienorman Pre-School is a small, welcoming, preschool in rural Aberdeenshire, with close ties to the local community and a focus on creating a supportive, caring, and stimulating environment for children. Starting as soon as possible, this opening is ideal for a confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated manager to lead a strong team.

Working with children aged 30 months to 5 years, the chosen candidate will provide a varied programme of play-based learning opportunities, whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children. As a manager, you are expected to enable a positive and proactive working environment for staff and liaise with the pre-school committee to oversee the provision of pre-school education, working in accordance with the guidelines covering ‘Pre-birth to Three’ and ‘A Curriculum for Excellence.’

A brief description of responsibilities are:

  • Providing safe and inspiring, differentiated care for children in the early years
  • Effectively communicating with staff, caregivers and the preschool committee, where appropriate
  • Fulfilling legal and statutory requirements and ensuring that all statutory, legal and setting obligations are followed and met
  • Leading and managing activities and staff on a day-to-day and longer term basis
  • Planning for, contributing to, and implementing early years policies

Hours of work: 35 hours per week - 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday during term time only.

Qualifications: A minimum of Level 3/HNC or equivalent in child care is required for the position. Applicants should also hold, or be willing to work towards, the BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent and be registered or eligible to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (with relevant SCQF Level 7 qualification).

Pay : Dependent upon experience/qualifications.

This post is regulated work with children and is subject to the provisions of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants must be or agree to become members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme, providing an enhanced disclosure with the expense being met by the applicant.
