Job Description

Chief Officer – Capital £81,504pa Aberdeen is full of stunning views. So it’s easy to see the beauty of working for Aberdeen City Council. We’re also really proud of our heritage, and we’ve built on it to become a globally recognised energy hub. Now, we’re transforming at pace. With big ideas and plenty of ambition, we move as one team to ensure our communities truly thrive. Now, this is your chance to join an exciting, visionary council as our Chief Officer - Capital. In this role, you’ll focus on leadership and delivery. In fact, you’ll take charge of our General Fund Capital Programme, including the City Centre Masterplan, the City Region Deal and the Housing Review Account (HRA) Capital Programme. As part of this, you’ll manage all of the services within the delivery process, including in-house teams, external consultants and contractors. You’ll also make sure we’re compliant with all statutory obligations and scrutiny regimes relating to Capital services. Ultimately, this is about transformation. So you’ll provide the leadership to bring a range of different services and cultures into one unified, newly designed Capital function. You’ll also collaborate with others, to ensure we become a digitally led organisation with a workforce ready for a 21st century council. A proven track record in managing capital programmes, strategic policy development and service transformation, you’ll come with experience of improving integrated services. In fact, you’re already an inspirational leader, who understands how to work in partnership with stakeholders to measurably improve service delivery. Degree qualified (or equivalent qualification or experience), you also have a healthy approach to risk, and the curiosity to look for innovative ways to change things.
