Job purpose/about the role

To ensure that the Caledonian System upholds the rights of the children and that their needs are met.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • Standard grade English or equivalent
  • Membership of the PVG Scheme or willingness to become a member
  • Hold a current UK Driving Licence

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Working with children who have experienced domestic abuse and/or other forms of abuse
  • Multi-agency work
  • The core components of Getting it Right for Every Child
  • An understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on women and children
  • An understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on mothers and mothering
  • An understanding of the complexities of contact between children and fathers
  • An understanding of child development
  • Knowledge of the key responsibilities, duties and obligations of other professionals towards children
  • Knowledge of how children may be used by abusers as part of their abuse
  • Knowledge of child protection and vulnerable adult procedures
