Job Description

Location:  Allenvale Cemetery but can be moved to other cemeteries when required
Duration:  Full Time, Permanent

Job Purpose:
To undertake either individually or as a member of a team a variety of duties concerned with Environmental Operations and cemetery maintenance including grave digging, grass maintenance, horticultural work and dealing with members of the public. To also work in other public open space areas as directed.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Certificate of competency in grave shoring procedures, or gain within 6 months

Certificate of competency in the safe use and operation of mechanical diggers, or gain within 6 months

PA1 and PA6 certificates in pesticide spraying or gain within 12 months

The post holder must also:

Must be physically fit

Must be willing to work within graves

Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

Proven ability to work as part of a team and as an individual

Proven ability to understand and respond to instructions given

Proven ability to deal with customers in a helpful and friendly manner

Proven ability to resolve issues and contribute to continuous improvement of service

Proven ability to complete job related sheets accurately

Proven ability to carry out manual duties in all types of weather
