Status - Full Time, Permanent

Location - Kingsfield Children's Home

Job Purpose

To lead a multi disciplinary team and work directly with children and families. To be fully accountable for all work undertaken in a timely manner for children and families allocated to the team. This will be achieved by assessing need, planning and delivering focused intervention to safeguard children and develop appropriate plans for children and families to promote positive outcomes. Operational responsibility for the leadership and management of a statutory residential child care service for children, young people, their families and carers through the management of a team of professional staff to ensure the delivery of and promotion of protection and welfare support. Contribute and support the strategic planning for your own home and the wider residential service. Ensuring an environment where each young person is loved and cared for and is enabled to recover from previous losses.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• BA in Social Work or equivalent i.e. CQSW/DipSW

• Post qualifying experience working with children and families

• Registered Manager’s qualification or willing ness to work towards this qualification where required (residential)

• PVG

• SSSC registration

The post holder will be expected to:

• Work flexible hours to fit with the needs of children and families

• Travel as required in relation to the needs of the service

• Work at night and weekends when required • Work at alternative locations as required • Work in accordance with Adult, Child and Public Protection principles and procedures

• Maintain SSSC registration and maintain the requirements as stipulated in terms of workforce regulation

• Adhere to the requirements of the SSSC Code of Practice, council Policy and Procedures and all relevant Legislation

Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

• An ability to lead and manage the team by supporting and motivating staff to work purposefully and cohesively in order to promote positive outcomes for children and families

• An understanding of relationship management and the capacity to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships across organisational, functional and unit boundaries to ensure high quality practice is consistent

• Practice within a framework where systemic theories are demonstrated and brought to life in this practice setting

• The ability to create a rapport and build relationships with children and families

• A high level of consultative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to deal with complex issues

• The ability to analyse and evaluate complex information to produce high quality, concise reports to inform quality casework and business decisions

• The ability to provide, formulate and implement focused and purposeful social work interventions with families/carers with explicit aims and objectives about desired outcomes

• Professional expertise to contribute to the development of operational policies and procedures for the service area

• The ability to manage and utilise cash limited budgets in order to commission services and assistance from other sources and the ability to prioritise cost- effective use of available resources

• An awareness of the importance of considered, shared analysis of risk and protective factors and high quality planning for all children and instil and embed this understanding in the fabric of the team

• The ability to negotiate, lead and influence multi-agency planning, review and decision making meetings

• The ability to maintain an overview, awareness and accountability for all work undertaken for children and families allocated to the team
