An exciting opportunity to support the delivery of European funding programmes in South Aberdeenshire has arisen. The South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group has been allocated £2.8 million to support bottom-up, community-led rural development and fisheries projects from now until 2020. The South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group is being part-financed by the Scottish government and the European Community LEADER 2014-2020 programme. Aberdeenshire Council is responsible for supporting the South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group in the management and delivery of these funds. This work is facilitated through a dedicated European Policy and Programmes Team.
The team is recruiting a European Programmes Co-ordinator who will be responsible for promoting and overseeing the delivery of LEADER funding to communities and businesses in the South Aberdeenshire area with Local Action Group partners. They will encourage and support potential project applicants; process and evaluate project applications; and provide ongoing advice to external project managers. In addition, the Co-ordinator will undertake project monitoring and evaluation; organise and undertake pre-completion visits and on-the-spot checks of projects; monitor and report on project and programme expenditure; assist with the submission of Scottish Government reports and arrange and participate in Local Action Group meetings. They will also line manage a Claims Officer and contracts let to deliver projects commissioned by the Local Action Group.
The successful candidate will have an academic achievement to degree level in a relevant discipline (or equivalent transferable skills) in addition to post-graduate experience of working with organisations in an advisory or support capacity. Furthermore, they will bring experience of working with a range of individuals, public and private sector organisations and communities and demonstrate experience in organising and co-ordinating meetings and seminars. They will also have experience of supervising/managing staff and projects/contracts.
Candidates must be able to prioritise their workload, be self motivated and free to travel, sometimes at short notice. Post holders will also be expected to participate in the delivery of the wider Economic Development agenda for Aberdeenshire.
This post is being advertised as fixed term to December 2020, but may be extended subject to confirmation of external funding.
Please note, individuals invited to interview will be expected to undertake an online Critical Verbal Reasoning Test and Numerical Reasoning Test as part of the recruitment exercise.
This post has a minimum requirement of 1 reference which must be your current or most recent employer.
