Aberdeenshire Council is committed to increasing work based learning opportunities for people in the local area by providing Graduate Level Apprenticeships (GLA’S). These allow you to gain valuable skills and knowledge in the world of work as well as gaining a university degree.
In partnership with Robert Gordons University, over 4 years you will work towards a BSc (Hons) Software Development for Business, combining practical work based experience within Aberdeenshire Council’s ICT Applications Team and university managed study. The post holder will be required to provide technical skills, knowledge and support for the design, development and implementation of business applications and the implementation of packaged software to meet customer requirements. To support the implementation, amendment and upgrade of existing applications. To develop in-house systems where appropriate.
You will be able to demonstrable interest/possible experience in software applications development and/or other computer system-related areas. You will need to be highly motivated, committed to study and training and have good communication, organisational skills and have a commitment to customer focus.
Technologies used within Aberdeenshire Council include the following – interest or experience in any of them would be useful:
- .NET (C# and VB, ASP.NET, web-based and forms based solutions
- SQL, including SSMS and SSRS, and SQLite
- Mobile applications development using Visual Studio 2015 and Xamarin
- Umbraco/ASP.NET CMS
- IT Service Management
- SharePoint development and maintenance
Aberdeenshire Council currently applies a Living Wage Supplement to all Council employees earning less than £8.33 per hour.
This post is fixed term for a period of 48 months.
