Job Description

Music Instructor – Cello / Double Bass

Aberdeenshire Instrumental Music Service seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work 4 days per week in Westhill, Mackie, Mearns and Portlethen Academies and surrounding primary schools.  The successful candidate will work as part of a team of music instructors.  Duties will include preparation for exams and extra-curricular activities. 

This post is for a lower strings instructor. The post holder will teach Cello and Double bass in the listed schools.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

The Music Instructor salary is negotiated by the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT). The successful candidate will be qualified to Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) level 9; (Diploma; Degree etc. from an approved College, University or Conservatoire) or be able to demonstrate the equivalent in terms of experience and skill in the discipline.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

It is a material condition of employment for this post that the employee holds a current full driving licence and has a car available, whenever required, in order to undertake the full range of duties of the post. As such, the post is designated as an authorized car user and will be entitled to receive mileage payments.
