An opportunity has become available for three seasonal Habitat Surveyor posts to carry out Integrated Habitat System (IHS) survey in North East Scotland for the North East Scotland Biological Records Centre (NESBReC).
Working predominantly outdoors during April–September 2018, you will have excellent botanical knowledge and field identification skills. Surveying will use the Integrated Habitat System and GPS enabled hand-held PCs for data capture in the field. Knowledge of habitat surveying at least to Phase 1 Habitat Survey level is required and previous IHS experience is preferable. Ecological, biological or botanical qualification or significant relevant experience necessary. You must be enthusiastic, adaptable, able to travel throughout Aberdeenshire, be happy to carry out lone working in a variety of terrain and in all weathers. Physical effort and stamina is required to undertake survey work. You will report to the NESBReC Co-ordinator and download/upload of data will occur regularly by visiting the NESBReC office in Aberdeen.

Post 1 - Hours of work: 21.75 hours per week (part-time), 16th April – 14th September 2018. This equates to three working days per week.
Posts 2 & 3 - Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week (full-time), 16th April – 28th September 2018.
Working days for both posts will be during the period Monday-Friday with no capacity for weekend working.
The work base for all posts will be Aberdeen. Survey work for post 1 will be carried out in Aberdeenshire. Survey work for Posts 2 and 3 will be carried out in Aberdeen City.
Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 12th March, 2018, with a view to a start date of Monday 16th April, 2018.
It is a material condition of employment for these posts that the employee holds a current full driving licence and has a car available, whenever required, in order to undertake the full range of duties of the post. As such, these posts are designated as an authorised car user and will be entitled to receive mileage payments.
