Job Description

Banchory Devenick Primary School are looking for a Caretaker on a Relief Basis.

You will ensure appropriate security and access to the building, whilst maintaining housekeeping standards so that a quality service is delivered to all users.  Roles would include but not limited to salting paths and general Caretaking.

This post may require working irregular and unsocial hours.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

The working hours are seasonally variable and may be subject to change:

Winter from End of October Holidays to Start of Easter Holidays (7.30am – 8.30am) = 20 Weeks x 5 Hours @ 1 Hour per Day = 100 Hours

Summer from End of Easter Holiday to Start of October Holidays (Any time agreed with Head Teacher) = 20 Weeks x 2 ½ Hours @ 2 ½ Hours per Week = 50 Hours

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Aberdeenshire Council currently applies a Living Wage Supplement to all Council employees earning less than £8.51 per hour.
