Aberdeenshire Council is at the leading edge in promoting the delivery-led Development Plans. We are enthusiastically adopting a “plan do” attitude focused on working with the development industry to achieve common objectives. We have high aspirations for sustainable growth and quality. Do you have the talents to help take our vision forward?
The post of Senior Planner is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the Planning Policy Team. Your job will be to assist the Team Leader in guiding a team of Planners in the defence of the Proposed Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan through its Examination, the provision of advice on this new Plan to Development Management colleagues, and the base line work required to inform the content of the next Local Development Plan.
Reporting to the Policy Team Leader you will be expected to work with minimal supervision and will be expected to utilise project management skills and have a clear leadership and mentoring role within the team. A key part of your job will be to engage with stakeholders, communities and Councillors with the purpose of identifying and evaluation of the key issues that the Local Development Plan requires to address.
You will hold an Honours Degree in Town and Country Planning or have equivalent transferrable skills and experience, hold full chartered membership of a relevant professional institute e.g. Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent), hold a current valid driving licence and have considerable planning experience.
This is a Politically Restricted position as identified by the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. Further information on restrictions as a result of this designation is available here.
The majority of posts within Aberdeenshire Council fall into one of the categories as detailed on the Worksmart website - http://worksmart.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/
