Applications are invited from qualified Social Workers (DipSW, CQSW or CSS) who are registered with SSSC, who have experience in mental health work, have good oral and written communication skills and are committed to joint working and to working in partnership with service users and carers. Although preference would be given to candidates who are able to function as a Mental Health Officer, applications are also invited from Social Workers with experience of working with people with mental health problems who would be willing to undergo Mental Health Officer training. The ability to travel within Aberdeenshire is essential. Applicants must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
Advancement to Senior Practitioner grade is dependent upon post qualifying training and experience, as part of career progression, and gives an opportunity to support staff with practice development. Please note that application for the Senior Practitioner Scheme is only possible where there is a Senior Practitioner vacancy within the team in which you are based.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
