Job Description

This post will involve providing a service to individuals appearing in Aberdeen Court from custody, to ensure they have adequate support for their emotional and mental wellbeing. The post may offer opportunities to work with individuals at the point of arrest in Police custody in addition to the Court setting, and may therefore also involve irregular work hours, however most often on a Monday to Friday basis. Ongoing support will then be offered to these individuals in the community, signposting on to additional services where required.

Provide a professional social work service to adults involved in the Criminal Justice System in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of criminal justice social work duties and working collaboratively with clients who have complex risks and needs to address offending behaviour.

Work in partnership with relevant professionals, other agencies and the wider community whilst adhering to all applicable legislation and Aberdeenshire Council policies and procedures, including both statutory and non-statutory requirements and Community Justice Priorities.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 6 months of employment.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.

This is a full time permanent post wihin a busy Criminal Justice Team in Central/South Aberdeenshire. The successful candidate will hold cases in both Central Aberdeenshire incorporating Inverurie and surrounding areas as well as cases in South Aberdeenshire such as Stonehaven and surrounding.

The hours of work will be flexible and negotiable to meet service requirements and can be discussed on an informal basis prior to applications being submitted.
