Job Description

Deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute, within collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers.

Key aspects of the role across Mearns Academy:
• Share best practice – lead on pedagogy – facilitate teacher learning opportunities
• Provide resources and work individually with classroom teachers to upskill them with inquiry-based teaching approaches.
• Mentor new teachers
• Collegiate work across school and cluster
• Promote STEM career pathways 
• Establish links with industry to enhance learner opportunities
• Increased support for underrepresented groups into STEM pathways
• Provide a lead role in the development of a cluster STEM strategy.
• Lead the development and implementation of career-long professional learning opportunities in the teaching of Science and promotion of STEM subjects. 
• Provide support for the professional needs of colleagues at all levels with regards to learning and teaching of Science and STEM subjects. 
• Keep abreast of developments in content and methodology related to STEM related subjects.
• Provide a lead role in working in collaboration with a variety of partners, both internal and external to ensure that the STEM offer within Mearns Academy is of high quality. 
• Oversee liaison with external providers of Career-Long Professional Learning opportunities. 

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Please note that the grade for this position may be subject to change. Promoted Teaching Posts that meet the criteria will be resized on an annual basis, in line with the SNCT Handbook. Any grade change will be effective from 1st August each year.

Requirements

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.
