Job Description

  • Be our Strategic Finance Manager?  We are looking for someone to be the driving force for financial excellence, compliance, insight and efficiency.  Someone who wants to move away from traditional spreadsheet analysis and cost control to someone who wants to simplify and demystify financial information, using ;data analytics and linking financial and non financial information to help support decision making by budget holders, elected members and the Council’s Leadership Group.
  • Leading the design, and future developments in quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Designing and overseeing a suite of financial reporting controls to fit into the quarterly and year end process.
  • You will be the ultimate point of escalation when something  isn’t working quite right. You’ll be managing a large team of finance professionals who will look to you for guidance and support.
  • Demonstrating technical accounting expertise. You will be responsible for the production of the annual accounts and will be our auditors first point of contact.
  • You’ll need to be able to manage a team. You'll be a hands-on influence for several senior finance team members and so day to day task management, career development, training, and technical support will be key.
  • Our Financial System is an on premise system with traditional reporting – we have recently discovered PBi and are keen to transform the information and analytics that we provide to our budget holders, our elected members and our corporate leadership team, you won’t need to be a PBI expert we have those, we will want you to be innovative, creative, forward thinking and anticipating the needs of budget holders before they ask.
  • Your analysis will be key in our decision-making across the whole business so your ability to draw insight, present and be challenged is just as important as the technical know-how.
