Job Description

Live Life Aberdeenshire has an exciting opportunity to join its Cultural Services team as Support Librarian - Development, Training and Operations.  This position will complete a core team of four Support Librarians with an Aberdeenshire-wide remit.

A key focus of this post is to develop, coordinate and oversee the delivery of activity and engagement which will make a positive impact on the lifelong learning and cultural needs of our communities, in line with local and national strategic priorities.

The main purpose of the role is to lead on operational matters relating to running public library services, home delivery services, learning and outreach programmes as well as support to local academies with particular emphasis on information and digital literacy.  The post holder will be a great communicator, organised, can make exciting things happen, support our vision to place literacy and learning in formal and informal settings for all ages at the heart of our library service.

The Support Librarian will have line management responsibility for a Senior Library Administrator and the team of four Driver Customer Assistants to support and deliver this work.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
