Live Life Aberdeenshire is looking for that special someone to lead our ambitious Youth Music Initiative programme in its 20th year.
The Youth Music Initiative (YMI) is a Scottish Government national music education programme with a vision to put music at the heart of children and young people’s lives and learning.
We need a creative person who can coordinate, develop, and execute our ambitious YMI Formula Fund programme across the region. We need someone who can consider opportunities within both formal and informal learning environments, liaising with the Cultural Development Coordinator and Cultural Engagement Manager, Instrumental Music Services, Creative Scotland, and other agencies and organisations. You would become part of a national network of arts organisations, freelancers and local authorities and have opportunities to attend learning events and conferences.
Working with schools across Aberdeenshire, you would have responsibility for coordinating a significant budget for youth music activities, devising, developing and evaluating an innovative portfolio of creative projects that positively impact on the lives of children and young people.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be extremely organised, can evidence significant budgeting and planning and have experience of the music industry.
The successful post holder will continue our commitment to quality delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the service and the organisation.
Some YMI highlights can be seen in the above Youtube Link.
This post of 29 hours is the equivalent of 4 days a week. There is flexibility; a suitable working pattern will be agreed between the service and the successful applicant. There will also be administrative assistance to support the YMI Coordinator.
YMI is a long-standing programme, having been funded by Scottish Government for nineteen years. The YMI coordinator position is funded by Creative Scotland on a year-by-year basis subject to Scottish Government budget settlements for culture.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
This post has a minimum requirement of one reference which must be your current or most recent employer.
Fixed Term for a period not exceeding 31/08/2023.
Expected interview date Friday 15th July 2022 in Huntly.
