We are looking for a dynamic, confident Chief Executive who will be an ambassador for Argyll and Bute and who will drive forward the kind of innovation and ambition that we and our communities share. With a proven track record in financial management, partnership working and in inspiring and delivering transformation and progress, you will lead the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives.
As Head of the Council’s Paid Service and principal advisor on policy and strategic direction, the Chief Executive is responsible for the implementation of the Council’s strategic priorities and policies and will lead on the delivery of Best Value and Community Planning. As the successful candidate, you will ensure that the Council’s workforce of 5,000 people is empowered to deliver excellent services across this unique and challenging area of 23 inhabited islands, large towns, rural villages and remote peninsulas. The Council priorities and developing policy areas in relation to community empowerment, our developing Rural Growth Deal, the environment, public sector reform and island legislation will require a visible and influential leader capable of delivering achievement on a wide variety of programmes.
Educated to degree level and with extensive experience in leading complex organisations, you will lead on our partnership approach to transforming our area and delivering our vision.
The post is politically restricted in terms of the local Government and housing Act 1989.
