We are looking for a dynamic, confident Executive Director who will provide leadership, vision and strategic direction across all Council to deliver the best possible outcomes for our communities. We are looking for an inspiring, encouraging, supporting and empowering individual who will lead their team to deliver the Council’s priorities and objectives while ensuring continuous improvement across their areas of responsibility. As an experienced leader of people with a track record in financial management, you will demonstrate a commitment to transformative change and an ability to turn vision into results. Delivering in Argyll and Bute requires strong partnership working and the development of local relationships to leverage public sector contributions for the best results. We’re looking for someone who brings a positive approach, who doesn’t shy away from open and honest conversations.  

The Executive Director is currently responsible for Roads and Infrastructure, Development and Economic Growth; and Customer Support Services (the remit may change as required). As the successful candidate, you will deliver excellent services across this unique and challenging area of 23 inhabited islands, large towns, rural villages and remote peninsulas. In addition you will also lead on initiatives such as the Council’s Growth Deal, Marine Infrastructure Programme and Digital Transformation which will require a visible and influential leader capable of delivering achievement on a wide variety of programmes.

Educated to degree level and with extensive experience in a lead role in complex organisations, you will lead the development of a partnership  approach to transforming our area and delivering our vision.

The post is politically restricted in terms of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
