Care and Support Worker

Salary: £22,185 - £24,590 per year
Hours: 36 per week on a shift basis

Care and Support Workers provides care and support to enable adults with Learning Disabilitiesto lead a meaningful life and participate in activities within their local community. We are a city wide service that supports people to live in their own tenancies withHousing Support and Care at Home.  The individuals we support have complex needs in relation to their behaviours of concern or autism.                                                                                     
We also have a prominent focus on the support of people who have forensic needs that require close supervision, and some may require to be supported by a male or female only team of workers.

The work the service undertakes can be challenging and we are committed to supporting staff to develop the practical skills required to enable an environment providing Positive Behaviour Support.  Appropriate training for the post willbe provided and we will invest in our staff to gain the formal qualifications required for registration with SSSC.  The service provides a robust learning and development programme for all staffs ongoing personal development.

Support is provided over seven days and nights per week and these posts will involve evening and weekend working, plus sleepovers as required. The successful candidates will be required to work shifts on a planned rota system. This will include, early, mid, late and weekend shift working for which additional payments are made.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
