Salary - £30,563 to £36,499
Hours - 36 per week
We are looking to appoint an appropriately skilled individual to the post of counselling co-ordinator for the City of Edinburgh Council. The post holder will be based within Psychological Services at the council offices at Waverley Court.
The successful candidate will oversee the effective delivery and governance of qualified counsellors in all Edinburgh schools. This will include liaising with schools to ensure appropriate space for counselling in schools and ensuring all counsellors undertake their required supervision. Although the coordinator will not directly line manage the school counsellors they will liaise directly with the counsellors and their manager within the school. The post holder will be a key point of contact over school holidays including taking on Child Protection responsibilities for referred clients. The co-ordinator will work alongside Psychological Services to ensure that the implementation of counsellors in schools is part of a wider local authority approach to supporting emotional health and wellbeing in schools.
Ideally the successful candidate will be qualified to offer some of the supervision requirements of the counsellors and as such should be a qualified counsellor registered with COSCA or the BACP.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh.
