Hours: 36 per week

The main responsbilities of the role include:

  • Recovering rent and service charges from customers in temporary accommodation and taking appropriate action when customers fall into arrears. 
  • Resolving complex enquiries relating to rent, arrears or entitlement to Housing Benefit. 
  • Signposting customers to appropriate welfare benefit, debt and money advice services where required. 
  • Taking part in a duty service assisting vulnerable and roofless households to access appropriate temporary accommodation. 

Although this post is initially based in the East Neighbourhood Office (101 Niddrie Mains Road) the successful candidate should be prepared to work in any area of the city dependent on the needs of the service. 

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.  For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
