Information and Advice Officer - Fixed term until 28/2/2025

Salary: £24,890 - £28,854 per year
Hours: 21.60 per week
The postholder will provide welfare rights advice to young adults with experience of being Looked After by the local authority. With excellent customer service skills and the knowledge to ensure that service users are accessing their rights and entitlements from the DWP, Social Security Scotland, local authority, and other sources of support, the candidate will be well organised and self-motivated.
The post involves regular customer contact and the ability to undertake detailed and dynamic assessments of household circumstances. The postholder is expected to liaise with a wide-range of other professionals and have excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
To alleviate poverty and promote social inclusion by maximising the incomes and resolving debt problems of customers. To provide advice, guidance, assistance, support and advocacy to individuals and households on matters of welfare rights, income maximisation and debt including casework, to increase the financial well-being of individuals and households through income/benefit maximisation and addressing debt problems.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
