Labourer – Damp Team
Waverley Court

Salary: £22,185 - £24,590
Hours: 36 per week

We are looking for Labourers to join a new team being set up in the Council’s Housing Operations service to manage dampness, mould and condensation in our tenancies. We need people who will support our tenants who are experiencing these issues in their homes and who will show respect, care and consideration for our tenants’ wellbeing.

The identification and effective treatment of dampness, mould and condensation in Council homes is a key priority for the Council to ensure that tenants are safe in their homes and the team will be responsible for:

• Early identification of cases of dampness, mould and condensation;

• Quickly establish the root cause, by carrying out intrusive surveys (if required) at the earliest opportunity;

• Respond quickly with remedial action to minimise the risk to tenants; and

• Ensure long term solutions to rectify the issue and/or continue to treat the problem until such time as a permanent solution can be effected.

You should have excellent customer care and communication skills as well respect, care and consideration for our tenant’s wellbeing. You will also act as a first responder where there is an immediate need to remove and treat mould that may be causing an immediate health risk in advance of remedial work being carried out which may involve lone working in tenant’s homes.

Your primary responsibilities will be to hack off plaster, clean up rubble and rubbish and support the on-site plasterers. You will help to insert damp proof courses and undertake other general construction site duties as and when required. Heavy lifting and manual handling is an essential element of this post.

Experience in construction is desirable but training will be given. Possession of a driving licence is essential for this post.
