Principal Teacher
Longstone Primary School

Salary: £46,158
Hours: 35 per week

Longstone Primary School is a non-denominational primary school built in 1957, which serves an area of south west Edinburgh. The diverse catchment includes areas of local authority housing, private housing, private lets and Ministry of Defence housing. The school is situated in the South West of the city, near the Water of Leith and the Union Canal. The school has spacious grounds, including a large Millennial forest, which are very well used to support and enhance pupil learning, particularly our programme of Outdoor Learning and Forest Schools. Due to certain aspects of the school's Art Deco design, the building was listed in 2016.

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our management team. The Principal Teacher will support the SLT in the running of the school and will also have the skills and experience to help lead our improvement agenda. The Principal Teacher will have a teaching commitment that will likely include some support for learning in Literacy or Health and Wellbeing. Supporting the Head Teacher and the Depute Head Teacher with the delivery of professional learning, supporting families and promoting positive relationships will also be key to the role. We are proud of the diversity our school community and the Principal Teacher will need to be fully committed to helping to support all of our staff and pupils to be the best they can be.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
