Pupil Support Assistant - Fixed Term until 18/06/2021
Castleview Primary School

Salary: £16,775 - £18,860 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional 39 weeks) plus living wage allowance if applicable
Hours: 27.16 per week, 39 weeks per year

Castleview is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to work collaboratively as a member of the school team assisting in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of all pupils across the school ensuring those with additional support needs can effectively access their learning in an inclusive, safe and nurturing setting with every opportunity to reach their full potential.

This post involves supporting pupils in our nursery and primary 1 stages who have complex needs for the main part of the working day. There will also be opportunities to support across the Primary School.  To provide support and assistance in the day-to-day operations of the school as directed by the Head Teacher or nominated staff.  The position may also involve occasional support in our Nursery to cover training or absence. 

Castleview is situated in an area of positive action and all our staff must be confident in managing distressed behaviours and learning issues. The school team is dedicated to increasing the life chances of our school family and as a result the expectations are high for all team members, including confidence in supporting Outdoor Learning experiences as we see this as a key strategy to support inclusion, to raise attainment for all and to improve the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

This post is considered regulated work with vulnerable children and/or Protected Adults under the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by City of Edinburgh Council.

The City of Edinburgh Council applies a Living Wage allowance to ensure that all employees earn at least £9.34 per hour. Successful applicants will be paid the hourly rate as advertised, plus the allowance, in order to bring their earnings to £9.34 per hour.
