Job Description

Site Supervisor (Clerk of Works), Transport Contract & Design
Waverley Court

Salary: £30,751 - £36,312 per year
Hours: 36 per week

An opportunity has arisen within Roads & Infrastructure for the permanent post of Site Supervisor. This post is nominally based at the Council’s Headquarters, Waverley Court, but generally this is a site-based post.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but highly rewarding role. You will be part of a team managing and co-ordinating the on-site works associated with Edinburgh’s roads and footways renewal program. This is an excellent platform to develop your career within a design and construction environment.

Our carbon-conscious approach to project delivery allows innovative individuals to flourish and the successful candidate will be encouraged to influence the future direction of their work, whilst operating in this site based role.

The successful candidate will have: -

Experience of supervising and influencing the construction of civil engineering projects ensuring the agreed specifications are met in full and the required quality standards are consistently achieved;

Experience of inspecting roads and footways to assess their condition and safety, including identification of remedial works as required, reporting on standards of workmanship and compliance with national and local standards;

Experience in the on-site management of projects, fostering working relationships with contractors to ensure on-time delivery, whilst maintaining excellent value for the Council;

Sufficient experience to ensure that all work is carried out with due regard for public safety and traffic/pedestrian management requirements, utilising a working knowledge of Chapter 8 (Traffic Signs Manual) and the Red Book;

A knowledge of health and safety legislation in relation to road construction and maintenance.

An understanding of NEC 4 processes is desirable.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
