Stores and Support Officer
Lagganlia Outdoor Centre

Salary: £21,697 - £21,979 per year (pro rata for part time)
Hours: 25 hours per week

Lagganlia is 1 of 3 Outdoor Centres owned and operated by The City of Edinburgh Councils Sports and Outdoor Learning team. Located within the outstanding natural beauty of Cairngorms National Park, Lagganlia specialises in providing leading Outdoors Learning Residentials to Scottish schools and beyond.

The centre operates commercial group packages and self catering lodges and pods at holidays and weekends to supplement its core purpose of outdoor education.

The Stores and Support Officer will predominately work weekdays office hours in a busy outdoor centre with extensive grounds and multiple onsite equipment stores. A full time stores and support officer has recently been recruited - this is a great time to join the team.  The 25 hours are negotiable through the week with only Monday and Friday being mandatory days.

Applicants should have an active interest in outdoor adventure, with relevant knowledge and experience of the equipment and risk involved of these activities. The job supports the instructional team in provision of the activity program.

Bike maintenance and servicing is an essential area for this role. The Centre has a fleet of mountain bikes that rely on weekly inspections and consequent repairs. A Velo Tech qualification would be highly desirable however training can be provided for an appropriately skilled candidate.

You will manage, monitor and maintain the stores with Papertrail.io, a management system built for the adventure industry- ensuring equipment & PPE compliance to ALAA licensing standards. Our adventurous activity stores include technical equipment and PPE for water sports, snow sports, climbing, archery, activities and camping expeditions.

The property and facilities side of the role requires varied and competent handyperson skills. In addition to basic building and grounds maintenance you will perform statutory checks of fire and water systems quality etc.

A driving license with D1 and D1+E is advantageous for drop off and pick ups. Although an essential requirement of the post training course can be provided. You will be required to support the operation and onsite maintenance of the minibus and trailer fleet and liaise with CEC fleet services in Edinburgh and the local garage for service scheduling and repairs.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
