Strategy Manager – Sustainability and Climate Emergency
Waverley Court 

Salary: £54,326 - £64,902
Hours: 36 per week

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Council’s activity to make Edinburgh a net zero and climate resilient city by 2030.  Cities are playing a unique role in tackling the Climate Emergency and this post will lead efforts across Scotland’s Capital City to deliver the ambitious 2030 Climate Strategy and the Council Emissions Reduction Plan, ensuring the city and all its residents benefit from a just transition to a green economy. 

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and creative leader with in-depth knowledge of climate action and a track record of leveraging stakeholders and resources to deliver their objectives. An expert collaborator and people manager, you will be at the heart of supporting the City and Council Partnerships to focus on delivery; designing and managing agile governance arrangements and programme management, as well as coordinating a team of officers to provide advice on policy implementation across the whole landscape of climate action.

A key function of the role will be to support the city to deliver the most significant programme of net zero infrastructure and investment planning Edinburgh has undertaken in decades, positioning the city at the forefront of place-based climate action and innovative financial solutions in Scotland and the UK.  Specific knowledge and experience in adaptation, energy systems and commercial innovation is desirable, as is a track record of system and project innovation that empowers and enables cross organisational and departmental action.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.  For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
