Support for Learning Teacher - Fixed term until 22/12/2023

Salary: £28,113 - £42,336 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: 30.32 per week

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Support for Learning Teacher at St Peter’s Primary School.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a record of effective classroom practice who is committed to meeting the needs of all learners. They will be someone capable of leading positive relationships with our pupils, parents and staff. We believe that better relationships enable better learning. The successful candidate will have strong organisational, leadership and communication skills, and should be able to offer advice, support and motivation to children, staff and parents. They will demonstrate their ability to deliver the best possible outcomes for all learners and provide evidence of successful multi agency working. An understanding of the Nurture Principles would be desirable. Role of the Support for Learning Teacher (SfL Teacher)

The Support for Learning teacher will work in partnership with parents and practitioners to meet the additional support needs of children and young people within the local authority's staged intervention process. They will assist class teachers and school management to ensure that children with additional needs have their needs identified and met within Curriculum for Excellence. Support should be delivered through the five well established roles of the Support for Learning teacher:

• Consultancy

• Planning learning and teaching; including cooperative teaching with class teachers

• Identification and assessment

• Partnership with specialist services

• Contributing to and supporting professional development There will be a particular emphasis on planning learning and teaching, including cooperative teaching alongside class teachers.

The successful candidate will work to support learners within their classrooms to ensure all learners are supported to achieve their full potential, alongside their peers and at the appropriate level.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
