Transport Officer
Waverley Court

Salary: £32,123 - £38,340
Hours: 36 per week

Would you like to assist in reducing road casualties across Edinburgh by influencing and changing the behaviour and attitudes of road users through education, training and publicity and through the creation of a traffic environment where appropriate speeds are maintained and potential hazards are highlighted and minimised?

In this role you will be involved in supporting and assisting the Senior Engineer in effective traffic and transport management and the successful delivery of a variety of transport projects and initiatives such as:

• Logging reported personal injury collisions into our database to allow for analysis to be carried out
• Carrying out Accident Investigation and manage improvement works identified through this to maximise potential collision reduction benefits
• Project manage a number of projects identified via the pedestrian crossing process in line with the current priority system, approved by the Council’s Transport Infrastructure and Environment Committee on 28 July 2009
• Work with the Road Safety and Active Travel Liaison Officers, who carry out Road Safety Education and Awareness Campaigns in 88 state schools and 10 independent schools across Edinburgh, to introduce infrastructure improvements identified by schools and Active Travel Action Plans

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team who has:

• a relevant degree and relevant experience;
• knowledge of the issues, opportunities and problems faced in working towards Vision Zero
• completion of the RoSPA Road Safety Engineering is desirable

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the grade. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
