Job Description

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

This section lists the main (headline) responsibilities/accountabilities of the job.

To support the Head Teacher in leading and managing the school as a member of the senior leadership team.

All Depute Headteachers have leadership, self-evaluation and pupil responsibilities and will deputise for the Headteacher as required.  While the school has an integrated system of pupil support in which all staff have a role, certain responsibilities are expressed in traditional terms for the purpose of job sizing.  All Depute Headteachers will assist the Headteacher in taking forward Clackmannanshire Council aims, and priorities of Education and the priorities within the School Improvement Plan.  Specific responsibilities of this post include:

  • Leadership and Management of school self-evaluation.
  • Leadership and management of professional learning and development.
  • Academic monitoring and tracking of learning progression.
  • Health and safety.
  • Whole school behaviour management.
  • Leading the parental engagement policy and implementation.
  • Leadership of GIRFEC, ASN and Staged Intervention for year group responsibility.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Clackmannanshire Council and the cost of this check which will be deducted from your salary.
