Job Description

Based within the integrated Department of Education and Children’s Services in Stornoway you will be committed to providing high quality childcare services that will deliver positive outcomes for vulnerable children. Partnership working with other agencies and with parents and, above all, with Children and Young People themselves will drive forward new initiatives in developing a range of services encompassing our responsibilities towards Early Intervention, Child Protection, Corporate Parenting and Throughcare/Aftercare Services. You will lead on these key areas and provide strategic leadership to support the integrated Department in promoting the ethos of partnership working. The post includes Chief responsibilities to ensure the provision of effective, professional advice to elected members and officers involved in the provision of Social Work services in the Western Isles.

Requirements

Proactive and influential, you will have the ability to lead, empower and motivate employees. You will be able to think and act strategically, establish effective performance measures and a performance culture that achieves corporate and service objectives. You will be able to ensure that services are co-ordinated and provided in accordance with political priorities and prepare and present reports on complex matters in an articulate and comprehensive manner. A degree level qualification in Social Work is essential along with experience of managing a portfolio of services with multidisciplinary teams to achieve significant, sustainable improvements and outcomes through internal and external partnerships. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. An additional allowance on £6981 per annum will be paid for CSWO duties and responsibilities. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression.
