Job Description

A number of Social Care Assistants are required for Taigh Shìphoirt, a 52-bedded care home including an additional 15-bedded respite wing, and Bremner Court, which consists of 35 independent flats, within the Goathill Complex. Your duties will include assisting in attending to the social, emotional and physical needs of residents and day care users so that each person is enabled to live as fulfilling and independent a life as possible. The Following posts are available: Social Care Assistants, Day Duty 36 hours per week – 1 post (£24,439 to £25,490 per annum) 32 hours per week – 1 post (£21,723 to £22,657 per annum) 30 hours per week – 1 post (£20,365 to £21,241 per annum) Social Care Assistants, Night Duty 28.5 hours per week – 1 post (£19,347 to £20,179 per annum) 19 hours per week – 1 post (£12,898 to £13,453 per annum) Please indicate on your application which of these posts you are interested in.

Requirements

You should have an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of people with support needs, the ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly and the ability to work as part of a team. You should also have SVQ Level II in Care (or equivalent), in the absence of this - you must have the ability to undertake and achieve this qualification - 36 months after registration with the SSSC. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression. The wearing and use of PPE is essential in this role.
